About this podcast

The Virtual Staffroom is a community podcasting project run by Australian educator Chris Betcher. The basic premise of the podcast is to hear from leading educators about how they use technology in their classrooms.

These very casual conversations are generally run as group discussions, recorded and then published into this podcast. Occasionally some episodes may be recorded live at conferences or other educational events. Often there is a particular theme, but sometimes it wanders into all sorts of unexpected areas.  It's a bit unpredictable, and that's half the fun.

Started in 2006, the podcast was published regularly until 2012, at which time it took a short break, which somehow turned into a 10 year hiatus. However, I've kept all the old episodes online as although they talk about technologies and ideas that may have dated over the past decade, I think they provide an interesting insight in the fascinating history of how the use of educational technology developed in our classrooms. Listening to some of the older episodes shows just how far we've come in the past 15 or so years. It really is quite incredible.

New episodes are added whenever they are recorded... sometimes that's fairly often and sometimes it's not.  It just depends how busy I am with other things.

If you're a teacher and you have an idea for an episode, or would like to be part of one, please just drop me a line.  I believe that every teacher has an interesting story to tell, and I hope this podcast is a nice way to share those stories.

Thanks for listening.
Chris
